Robert Van Damme Launches Studio

LOS ANGELES - When Robert Van Damme decided to launch RVD Productions, he rang his pal Blue Blake for some man-to-man advice. After all, it was Blake who discovered Van Damme, gave him his nom de porn and made him a star in gay adult entertainment.

Blake, in turn, suggested Van Damme get in touch with a mutual contact who was of invaluable assistance when Blake founded his own studio: veteran gay producer/director/jack of all trades Gino Colbert. It was Colbert, he said, who set him on the track to prominence with Big Blue Productions. Even before that, Colbert cast Blake in a number of award-winning features that elevated him to stardom. Colbert was justifiably famous by then as a consultant who trained some successful directors.

Van Damme had worked for Colbert once, in Hungry 4 Sex 2. He admired Colbert's style and was pleased with the way he looked in the finished product.

Colbert was impressed with Van Damme, as well. Even though he was semi-retired, shortly after meeting Van Damme again, he agreed to collaborate on RVD's first full-length feature, Private Party. The title is due for release this week under the Marina Pacific Distributors banner. Colbert co-directed with Van Damme and helped him sketch out more than just one DVD.

"We turned it into a trilogy," Colbert said. "You'll see Private Party 1, 2 and 3 being released months apart, and they're quite incredible. In the third installment, Robert bottoms for the first time in his career."

With casting by Howard Andrew's FabScout Entertainment, the models "couldn't be more gorgeous," Colbert said. "We have the cream of the crop."

Colbert is the current casting director for the acclaimed gay vampire soap "The Lair", now in its third season on the here! TV network. He expects great things from Van Damme and RVD.

"The movies have stories, production values and filthy sex, all beautifully shot," he said. "In this difficult market, either you give them something above and beyond, or you suffer the consequences. We're going top-notch all the way."
