Rob Romoni Returns to Performing

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—“I never really left,” Rob Romoni insisted as he sat back in a chair, unintentionally drawing attention to a body now in better shape than it was when he seemingly disappeared from gay adult entertainment two years ago. “I took a hiatus from performing for a couple of years, but I’ve never left the people.”

The things that made him popular never left him, either: broad back and shoulders, bulging biceps, perfect pecs, a contagious smile. The man is practically magnetic. In an age when the term “porn star” is applied to every adult performer in much the same way reality TV stars call themselves “actors,” Romoni remains intriguing. Even without appearing in a feature for 24 months, he hardly has been invisible. Instead, he remained dedicated to his fans, garnering 3,000 followers on Twitter and 5,000 on Facebook.

Now the GAYVN and Grabby award-winning gay adult performer is poised for a comeback. He recently signed with Jason Sechrest’s new talent-management agency, DV8 Casting.

“I’m incredibly selective with who I take on to manage,” Sechrest said. “I keep a small stable so I can focus individual attention on each of them. I don’t want to just book work, I want to create superstars.

“Rob Romoni is the first performer I’ve taken on who is already a superstar,” Sechrest added. “I don’t plan on taking on a lot of those, but everyone in this business knows Rob is one of the greatest commodities we have. Not only is he a fantastic performer with a body that’s damn near intimidating, but he’s one of the most sincere, genuine, sweetest men in this field. He gives adult workers a really good name. We need to support guys like that because we need more like them. It’s an absolute honor to welcome him to the DV8 Casting family.”

Romoni recently wrapped what he hopes will be his comeback vehicle: a starring role in Massive Studio’s Bad Cop Diaries. Directed by John Bruno, the feature is due out this fall as part of a major promotional effort that will include DVDs, webisodes on MassiveStudio.com and an A.J. Llewellyn erotic novel for which Romoni served as a cover model.

Next up, Romoni has been booked to shoot two scenes for Robert Van Damme’s RVD Films. One presents Romoni paired with muscleman Van Damme himself.

“I’m so glad to be making movies again and humbled that people are still interested in me,” Romoni said. “I couldn’t be more grateful that DV8 Casting will be representing me. It’s a great family, and I feel really at home here.

“I’ve taken enough time off that I really get excited about doing these shoots again,” he added. “With my body now, too, I think the timing is right. I just want to bring happiness into the world, and if this is one of the ways I can do it, I’m going to do it the best that I can.”
