NORTH HILLS, Calif.—In a departure from the gay fisting and watersports films that made him notorious, director and Red Eagle Films founder Wolfgang Bang, in conjunction with Pacific Sun Entertainment, has unveiled his first “mainstream” XXX gay title: Awesome Fuckers.
Bang said he was “really into” the fisting scene when he founded Red Eagle in 2000. His interest in the subject helped propel the studio into critical acclaim and controversy. Much of Bang’s work is considered “too extreme” for widespread distribution.
Despite that, during the past eight years Bang’s titles for both his own label and Hot House Entertainment have racked up numerous GAYVN and Grabby award nominations for features, including Cum in Handy, Handpacked and Slam Dunk. The self-proclaimed “Susan Lucci of porn” this year received his first award, a Grabby, for Fisting Ranch Hands.
The award whet his appetite for creating material with a broader appeal.
“I’m really into a very wide variety of stuff sexually,” he said. “I wanted to make some more ‘mainstream’ films so that I could reach a wider audience and also get some more creative space for myself to do what I feel passionate about.”
After frequent visits to Buenos Aires, Bang said he found a new niche to explore.
Argentinean studs are “some of the hottest men I have ever seen, and it opened the door for me to continue exploring new genres,” Bang said. “I have a lot in the works now, and I would say this film was the catalyst for that.”
