LOS ANGELES - The launch party hosted Wednesday night by Chi Chi LaRue and Topco Sales drew dozens of people to The Pleasure Chest, where Rascal Video stars Cole Ryder and Eddie Diaz were on hand to promote the Rascal Toy line.
"Seeing the expressions on people's faces was the highlight of the night," said Desiree Duffie, Topco Sales' director of marketing. "The crowd at The Pleasure Chest was there for a party, and watching Chi Chi interact with them while spinning really made the event sizzle. And Cole and Eddie were a riot as they signed autographs and posed for photos."
The in-store event was followed by a party at LaRue's nightclub, Dirty Deeds, where "a very enthusiastic crowd" continued the fun, Duffie said, adding that Topco Sales was "incredibly pleased" by the reception the Rascal Toy line received.
"It was packed," Ryder told AVN Novelty Business magazine. "We started dancing at about [midnight] and got a little crazy. ... They were really into us. It was great promoting our new dildos."
Duffie said the Rascal Toy line began with Topco gathering retailers' input on what would resonate with gay customers. In addition to the toys' design, she said, the black-and-red packaging will help retailers "take advantage" of the Rascal Video brand.
"The packaging reflects the Rascal Video brand and will certainly catch the eyes of savvy consumers," Duffie said. "The robust sizes truly set them apart. Since Rascal Video is known for its quality talent, we paid special attention to every detail of the replica pieces."
The Rascal Toy replicas are made of Topco's dual-layered SensaFirm material.
"The toys are incredibly realistic, and they feel great," Duffie said. "It has a soft, flexible outer layer that is bonded with a silicone substrate to a hard inner core. It is so much better than traditional solid rubber, and it cleans up easy with liquid antibacterial soap and water."
Topco Sales began shipping the Rascal Toy line this week.
