LOS ANGELES -- Wednesday marked the debut of "Unsung Heroes" on HIMCorp.'s Web portals GayWired.com, LesbiaNation.com, and 247Gay.com. "Unsung Heroes" profiles men and women working tirelessly for the advancement of GLBT life and culture. The column's debut was timed to coincide with GLBT History Month.
The first "Unsung Hero" is trainer and life coach Barry Jay, founder of the Los Angeles-based Barry's Boot Camp. Jay has focused on assisting people through substance-abuse recovery by creating a challenging, motivating, and ultimately life-changing workout regimen.
Future columns will highlight others working behind the scenes, including the dedicated efforts of an HIV-positive gay youth counselor in Atlanta; a gay homeless man who turned his life around and now works for Step Up on Second, the organization that helped him get off the streets; and an international jewelry designer who lends his talents to charity organizations around the world.
New in-depth interviews will appear every Thursday.
Based in Los Angeles, HIM Corp. owns and operates a network of more than 20 entertainment, news, social networking, business, travel, and sports websites targeted to the GLBT digital consumer.
