Miami Studios star Matt Woods has reached an agreement with the U.S. Navy that allows him to leave the service with an honorable discharge after an investigation into his porn career, a studio spokesman disclosed.
Woods appears in such Miami Studios titles as Have You Ridden This Ford Lately?, Weapons of Matt's Seduction, My Brother's First Time, and Flight Deck Dick.
Woods, who was nearing the end of his tour of duty when the investigation began, went on "Terminal Leave" in March, a process that allows service members to depart active duty permanently by turning in their unused leave time.
The agreement, which gave Woods an early out under the "Rainbow Chit" exit program created for "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" cases, grants rentention of full earned benefits. Woods took this option, and went on terminal leave immediately, rather than remain on base or take the cash value of his unearned leave time.
Miami Studios says the agreement was reached in part because it had hired expert legal counsel and was determined to fight on Woods' behalf. "We believe very strongly in defending those who defend America," Miami's spokesman said. "We're all very proud of Matt's service, which included a tour of duty in the Iraq theatre of operations. Anyone who has seen Matt in his dress uniform, chest covered in ribbons, would realize the extent of his service to the country in the past four years."
Miami speculated that the Navy figured that since Woods' actual end of duty was so close at hand it served no real purpose to harass him any further. "I think, also, we were aided by the publicity the Dink Flamingo/ Active Duty scandal brought to the Army. I suspect the Navy did not want a string of national articles giving them the same black eye the Army was getting.
"If you read the statements by the Army about this being 'a limited problem,' it is very clear they are trying to cover this up as much as they can," he continued. "Ironically, recruitment standards have never been lower: convicted felons, high school dropouts, everyone can join — unless they've done gay porn."
Woods, pursuing a college education, will continue to work for Miami, not only as actor, but as director.
The Miami spokesman expressed thanks to WeHo Video, AEBN, Midnight Video, Obelisk Books, Miami distributor AVNS, and others who were supportive of Woods during this episode.
