Phoenix Releasing Switches to Automated Ordering

VAN NUYS, Calif. - Phoenix Releasing has terminated live-operator ordering assistance, the company announced Tuesday. Effective immediately, product orders will be accepted only through the company's website, fax or direct mail.

"Frankly, it's gotten too expensive to have a live person manning telephones for orders," a company spokesman said. "We are one of the last true mail-order companies. More than 75 percent of our business is still done by mail. We send our customers First Class direct-mail pieces about every six weeks. Our customers appreciate the ability to hold a brochure in their hands.

"Unfortunately, they will be losing the personal touch of our longtime customer service manager, Danny. He was there to handle all of our customers' needs as well as to take special orders for those looking for hard-to-get titles that may have either gone to another production house or just aren't available through other mail-order sources. We're hoping they will still rely on us to try and find these titles for them."

Last year Phoenix updated its website to offer a broader catalog of titles and features. The site simplifies finding and ordering products.

"We designed it for those not familiar with the Web," the spokesman said. "It's very easy to navigate."

Customers with questions can e-mail the company. To be added to the mailing list, fax to (818) 994-9919 a signed letter affirming you are 21 or older.
