Fireworks erupt in the sky over the lagoon in Zona Sul, the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Soft bossa nova ebbs from the band on this balmy December evening. An enormous wooden Christmas tree, swirling with flashing lights and fountains of colorfully lit water, floats in the middle of the lake to kick off the summer season until the end of Carnaval in February. This celebration is a perfect end to a near-perfect day of production.
Earlier that day, our security guard, Ivete, arrived at the apartment just before 8 a.m. A security guard? Yes, porn production is different in Brasil, and you constantly have to look over your shoulder. I've heard too many scare stories about other American studios having model troubles here.
