MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - Former sales and distribution director Scott Boardman has left Collin O'Neal's World of Men. O'Neal said the company will handle all sales and distribution from its Miami Beach offices henceforth.
"After first contracting Scott Boardman back in April, I kept a sharp eye on DVD sales to determine whether my decision to hire him as director of sales was necessary," O'Neal said. "Scott took a lot of initiative, but due to my own contacts within the industry it was hard for him to increase sales on his behalf."
Boardman joined the company after leaving Cybersocket at about the same time O'Neal severed an exclusive-distribution arrangement with Raging Stallion Studios in favor of self-distribution. Since then, O'Neal said, World of Men has been very successful in its distribution efforts, even though O'Neal eschewed advice not to extend credit to retailers.
"One of the most important pieces of advice when starting my own distribution came from Keith Webb of Titan Media, who told me to be a cash-only business," O'Neal revealed. "I initially did not want to extend credit, but many retailers insisted on it. I decided to extend credit only to retailers I met and spoke with in person and am very proud that the retailers I have extended this special financing to have kept their word."
O'Neal said none of the retailers or distributors to whom he has extended 30-day credit has defaulted on the debt.
"This has also proven that my products are unique and desirable and that our business model of releasing a DVD every three months instead of four or five per month fits with the current DVD retail market," he said.
Inquiries concerning sales can be directed either to O'Neal or his business partner, Rich Richards.
