CHICAGO - As part of its ongoing effort to transfer early gay adult films and videos to DVD, Bijou Video has developed "New Jersey Trash," a collection of 15 videos directed by Robert Prion between 1987 and 1994.
Bijou labeled the series "New Jersey Trash" because of Prion's signature style: The free-for-all videos presented able-bodied casts of young, unpretentious, working-class men who were openly gay and into merciless, hardcore sex. There were no tops or bottoms in Prion's productions; everyone did everything with everybody. In addition, Prion used cheap sets with vivid colors and décor, including low-ceilinged kitchens, paneled rec rooms and the family garage.
Former AVN reviewer Aaron Travis labeled Prion "the William Higgins of New Jersey. What Higgins did for buffed, blond, beautiful California boys, Prion [did] for ... equally horny guys of New Jersey."
The initial three "New Jersey Trash" titles to be released are, 19 Good Men, Total Impact and Hidden Instincts.
19 Good Men was released in 1993 and boasts one of Prion's largest casts, including his favorites, Byron Rogers, Jay Richards and real-life brothers Dane and Rick Thomas. Released in1992, Total Impact features 15 men getting busy down on the farm and out in the cornfields. It includes a special guest appearance by Joey Stefano. The action in Hidden Instinct, also from 1992, varies from a first-timer's coming out to a gay stag party where the buffet is a naked porn star to male strippers getting it on with each other.
Bijou Video designed special "New Jersey Trash" covers for each of the DVDs in this series. The first three are available now at the company's website and from select distributors of gay adult videos.
