SAN FRANCISCO—Gay adult video-on-demand network NakedSword’s fall-winter 2010-11 schedule includes the release of several original productions. The hardcore sex series Golden Gate and the feature-length version of the critically acclaimed indie short I Want Your Love will bow at the website, along with a new season of popular talk and variety program The Tim & Roma Show.
After debuting on NakedSword in May, the short version of director Travis Mathews’ I Want Your Love garnered more than 200,000 views. The production snagged the “Best Money Shot of Love” title in the San Francisco Gay Guardian’s annual “Best of the Bay” issue. With casting sessions in New York and San Francisco underway, filming of the full-length feature is set to commence this fall. The abbreviated demo has been selected to screen during several international film festivals this year, and the feature version will debut on NakedSword in 2011.
Produced by NakedSword, written by GAYVN Award-winning screenwriting team of Jack Shamama and Michael Stabile, and directed by Chris Ward, Golden Gate stars some of gay porn’s biggest names as well as some of the most sought-after newcomers, whose sex lives intersect on the streets of San Francisco. Each hardcore episode will debut exclusively on NakedSword, followed by a quarterly DVD release. Four episodes of the first season already have been filmed.
“Our original programming will not only serve to broaden NakedSword’s reach to a whole new audience of gay porn consumers, but will also complement our existing reputation as the industry’s No. 1 video-on-demand service,” Chief Executive Officer Tim Valenti said.
Valenti and Sister Roma are set to celebrate their 100th anniversary by filming a very special episode of The Tim & Roma Show. After dozens of years working together, there is hardly any topic or controversy the dynamic, if not slightly geriatric, duo has yet to tackle. The anniversary episode will debut on TimAndRoma.com this fall.
“Roma isn’t quite 100 years old yet, but we’re rounding up,” Valenti quipped.
NakedSword has been a gay adult VOD provider since 1997. The company merged with AEBN in January 2007 and now claims to reach 90 percent of the combined gay and straight VOD market. The company maintains partnerships with a number of gay adult studios, including Falcon Entertainment, Catalina Video, Raging Stallion Studios, Lucas Entertainment, Hot House Entertainment, Dark Alley Media, Studio 2000, Pitbull Productions and more than 100 others.
The company pioneered a new online paradigm with the release of gay soap opera Wet Palms in 2004. The over-the-top drama earned scriptwriters Shamama and Stabile 2005 GAYVN Awards for Best Comedy and Best Screenplay. Produced by Jet Set Men, Wet Palms ended with a cliffhanger after a nine-episode run, reportedly due to cast scheduling conflicts and high production costs. DVDs of the show were released in 2005 and 2006.
