NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Celebrity and fashion photographer Adam Bouska will host a seven-hour photo shoot July 15 at his North Hollywood studio. Proceeds and images from the shoot will be used to advance the work of NO H8, a grassroots effort he founded to challenge California’s constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.
From 1-8 p.m., Bouska and his partner and assistant Jeff Parshley will photograph all comers and add their images to the iconic collection on the web and in Bouska’s growing collage. The mural currently measures more than 12 feet square and includes more than 800 photos. Another 400 have been submitted by supporters around the world. Among the famous faces in the collection are Fran Drescher, Debbie Gibson, Megan McCain, Tatyana Ali, Blake Lewis, Perez Hilton, Ashlee Simpson, Pete Wentz, Rachel Sterling, Tara Reid and Chi Chi LaRue.
The adult entertainment industry is encouraged to take part in the special event, according to blogger Scott “Scotty B” Boardman. NickYoungXXX.com, Randy Blue, Jet Set Men, Cocktails with the Stars and Odyssey Magazine are supporting the effort.
“The adult community has huge influence over mainstream gay culture, and if they can help with this noble cause, then I think it is a cause we should help promote,” Boardman said.
In addition to appearing in Bouska’s collage, the images will become part of a viral campaign on Facebook and other social-networking sites, he added. Eventually Bouska intends to create a billboard campaign and print ads.
Bouska and Parshley began their project shortly after California’s Proposition 8 was approved by voters on Nov. 4. The campaign started with everyday Californians who support marriage equality and soon spread to community activists, celebrities, military personnel, law enforcement and politicians.
Members of the public who would like to participate need only show up at Bouska’s studio, located at 5355 Cartwright Ave., suite 320, in North Hollywood. Each subject should bring a plain, white V-neck shirt or T-shirt. The “NO H8” logo will be painted on cheeks at the studio. A minimum $25 donation per portrait is suggested, although children 12 and younger will be photographed free.
