Mainstream actor and writer Chad Darnell contacted a few of the remaining porn Brat Pack of the 1990s as part of his quest to write a movie about Joey Stefano. Yeah, we’ve all heard it before, but Darnell seems a bit passionate about the project, more than others from the past. Darnell spent hours with Chi Chi LaRue, Chris Green, Sharon Kane and me over the past week to get details about Stefano and what kind of a guy he was. Darnell promises his biopic won’t be all about everyone doing drugs all the time, because that wasn’t what Stefano was about, even though his death in 1994, at the age of 26, was attributed to a drug overdose. We’ll keep you informed on the progress.
Billling himself as “Maryland’s First Bisexual Porn Star Rapper,” Imani the Misfit just released a new song, “Definition of a Drug.” In an interview, he admitted he only has posed for nude stills (most notably with photographer Sean Dibble) and hasn’t actually made the leap into porn. It’s quite apparent he has the credentials to make it big in the porn world, but he says the adult industry in Maryland is rather limited.
“I’m attracted to girls more, but I could see myself doing gay porn,” he said. “I’d do anything.”
The Los Angeles Film Festival includes its share of adult-themed gay movies, sometimes making it difficult to separate porn from the risqué “mainstream” stuff at Outfest. Kinky culture clashes showed up in an Iranian film called Dog Sweat, which watches a closeted gay guy in an arranged marriage. An Israeli film, Eyes Wide Open, explores the torrid romance between two ultra-Orthodox Jewish men.
Explicit gay sex features in some other titles to be screened during next month’s Outfest, including documentaries like The Bisexual Revolution, The Adults in the Room, Bear Nation and Hooters! Others incorporate very raw sex scenes and nudity that require warnings in the program, like the Legacy Series entries Hustler White (featuring a bunch of porn stars from the mid-1990s) and Macho Dancer (about a male brothel in the Philippines). There’s even an explicit “Flesh and Fantasy” series including one short directed by actor James Franco, The Feast of Stephen. Franco also stars as gay “beat” poet Allen Ginsberg in Howl.
A few other quickies:
Raging Stallion’s production coordinator, Scott Tanner, is moving on, and Race Cooper is replacing him. Chris Porter has been hired full-time as the main production assistant.
Bel Ami twinky stud Kris Evans is bottoming for the first time on Bel Ami Online. It took a while for him to be coaxed into that position, but it was well worth the wait.
Porn star Jeremy Bilding made a confession on BananaGuide.com this week after being caught driving drunk in San Diego. He said he was thankful no one was hurt when he blew a .08 on the breathalyzer. “I’ll definitely be changing my ways even more, out of respect for all of you, and for anyone around me,” he said.
Speaking of confessions, it was beautiful to read on his blog about how Steven Daigle co-hosted the Edmonton Gay Pride events in Canada with Johnny Hazzard. It turns out Daigle is a big fan of Hazzard’s, and he gushed like a true fan, swooning even about the official Johnny Hazzard Dildo. “I have to say it’s a fucking cool thing to go from being a fan of someone to being on stage with them,” Daigle wrote.
