Mickey's Quickies | Dean Monroe Returns, Gayest Oscars Ever, More Gay Gossip

Dean Monroe is back performing in front of the camera after launching a mainstream acting and singing career. Well, sort of mainstream—he was still taking his clothes off, but he had a long (emphasis on long) run with Naked Boys Singing, the group that tours the country singing in the nude. On his Facebook page, Monroe talked about his return: “It’s been more than two years since I’ve taken my clothes off for the camera. All I can say is it felt real good when I finally decided to strip for my friends at UKNakedMen.com. ... [T]his is just the first of many new shoots I’ve done, so stay tuned.”

Leave it to Jet Set Men to jump on another parody: a spoof of MTV’s Jersey Shore reality show. Jet Set's Jersey Score: A New XXX Parody won't have a Snooki, but you can be sure there will be “The Stimulation.” Director Chris Steele promises the show will revolve around "a self-obsessed narcissist with a big uncut dick and a healthy appetite for straight-boy butts." Dean Coxx, Andrew Blue, Josh Logan, Kevin Cavalli and Hayden Stephens are among the cast. These are the same guys who are spoofing Levi Johnston, so I can't wait!

Kudos to the team that brought together the Oscars this year. I think I've mentioned in the past that producer Adam Shankman, songwriter Scott Wittman and composer/conductor Marc Shaiman all have attended past GAYVN shows many times, have served as judges for the celebrity section of the Gay Video Guide Awards, and even helped choreograph and offer suggestions for the shows in the past. These were the guys in charge of this year's show, and maybe that's why it turned out that the show seemed a bit more gay this year. They, along with some of the other closeted celebs, are out as "porn pals" who are unashamed to be friendly with the adult industry.

Corey Haim died at age 38 at the Oakwood apartments in the San Fernando Valley. His porn connection: For three years he was sneaked in (mostly incognito) to some of the porn awards shows also attended by the above-mentioned guys, but Haim's presence had to be kept secret. Even though Haim never identified as gay or bisexual (at least to a porn journalist like me), he said he was "intrigued" with the industry. One time at the GAYVNs, hosted that year at the Universal Sheraton not far from where he died, Haim brought along his Lost Boys co-star Corey Feldman, and they were a bit less inconspicuous and actually signed autographs and posed for pictures.

British director Adam Bailey of Seal Productions is focusing completely on directing movies and has contracted with Portland International Sales, a TV channel ownership-turned-distributor, in order to free himself up to make movies. The Seal Productions label will be distributed by Pacific Sun Entertainment, and the first title coming out under the new deal is Sex Pub, in early April. This title shows a bunch of horny young guys who co-own a pub and look for any excuse to pull their pants down.
