It was great to see Chi Chi LaRue at the GLAAD Media Awards this past weekend. GLAAD presented special awards to Wanda Sykes and Drew Barrymore for portraying GLBT issues in a positive light.
In a fun way, it was old home week because LaRue’s old rock star pal Rob Halford from Judas Priest was there. Rob attended some of the adult awards shows about a decade ago when he first came out of the closet. He introduced Adam Lambert at the end of the night, saying, “He is attractive to both men and women. We need more stars like Adam.”
RuPaul also attended some of the porn awards in the past, and even performed at a GAYVN Awards shows. For a few years, he was a celebrity judge.
But, this event wasn’t porn at all. When RuPaul’s Drag Race won the award for best reality show, RuPaul took the stage in man-drag and said, “I didn't even know I was nominated!” It was true Ru honesty.
Scotty B is taking his Casting Couch show to Las Vegas again. He announced that Next Door Male’s Trent Lock and RandyBlue’s Travis James will participate in the gay version of Inside the Actors Studio, which will take place at the Piranha Ultra Lounge on April 24. Then a few days later, on April 29, Scotty B’s Cocktails with the Stars will commemorate its first birthday along with the first anniversary of the reopening of Micky’s Bar in WeHo. The popular club at which Cocktails takes place every week suffered a devastating fire and was closed for repairs for two years.
Bisexual icons Robert and Carol Queen, who have had their wonderful butt-play instructional sex vids and Carol’s fantastic books out for years, are showing some artwork throughout April at the San Francisco Center for Sex & Culture and the Good Vibes store. Some of the couple’s multimedia art looks rather kinky, naturally. They’re also gearing up for Masturbate-a-Thon, scheduled for May 30. The event will stream live on the web again, so those who can’t attend at least can watch all the guys and gals going at it.
Gay porn was on the minds of the gay programmers for Film Out San Diego this year. I was down for part of the festival, which ends April 23, and porn stars appear in a lot of the movies. Big Gay Musical, College Boys Live, Hollywood Je T’aime and Pornography: A Thriller all feature adult performers in prominent roles. The latter is out this month on DVD.
Pacific Sun Chief Executive Pritam Sinha is in San Francisco this week for the Ad:Tech conference that annually helps business leaders expand their knowledge of leading-edge technology. Sinha said he attends in order to help his adult company keep up with mainstream changes.
I just received my copy of Tales of the Arabian Nights parts one and two from Raging Stallion, along with a magic carpet mouse pad. It’s a great idea, and I can’t wait to get on that magic carpet ride.
