Mickey Skee's Gossip: January 2006

Lots of the porn community showed up in Manhattan from all over the world for GAYVN Hall of Fame director Jerry Douglas' 70th birthday. It was a week after Chi Chi LaRue celebrated her own rip-roaring 46th birthday in WeHo, where LaRue showed off her new talent — spinning records. (“I love doing this, it’s a lot more fun than going up there and singing,” she told me.) Some of those groovy tunes were downloaded for her by RuPaul herself. LaRue was itching to get to the Big Apple with her fine entourage to club it with the boys and go to Jerry’s party. And Chi Chi's very excited about the new year, especially with the possibility of doing a less feathery title with Brad Patton and planning a raunchy movie, Severe. It's about time LaRue got back to what she does best!

Anyway, in his Riverside Drive apartment, Jerry and his partner hosted a dressy soiree which mixed some of his playwright and actor friends from 1970s Broadway, as well as some porn stars of today.

Brad Patton flew in from Amsterdam to give Jerry a hug and to record some commentary the next day for the Beyond Perfect DVD, which Jerry says shows “two amazingly talented men who deserve to be called superstars in an age where the term is vastly overused.” He’s talking about Patton and co-star Jason Kingsley. And although I didn’t get a peek, director Kevin Clarke said he saw the final scene between the two stars and called it “unquestionably the best sex scene I’ve ever seen.” Wow! (Clarke, by the way, spent the day filming a young guy doing a first-time sex scene on video, then came over to help Jerry and his party team clean windows.)

COLT owner John Rutherford and his partner Tom Settle were there, as were actor/film editor Andrew Addams, porn columnist J.C. Adams, and performer Owen Hawk, who’s producing his own hot uniform vids under the Dark Alley label and says he has a new one popping out any day.

Pete Ross, the randiest redhead in porn now (who's also in Beyond Perfect), was at the party with pals, but was caught smooching legendary Steve O’Donnell, the sexy blond known for his Catalina, Falcon, and All Worlds work who moved to Washington three years ago. O’Donnell appeared in Jerry’s classics Flesh and Blood and Family Values and told me, “I’m ready to get back in the business, I’d like to do a video again."

Missed seeing Michael Lucas in the Big Apple, he was off in Barcelona, Spain, finding more studs for upcoming titles. His Barcelona Nights promises to have a fresh batch of Latin stud meat never seen anywhere before. Along the way, Lucas shaved off his lovely locks and has a new close-cropped look that makes him look rather like Vin Diesel — but sexier.

Will Clark isn't doing his Bad Boys Pool Party fundraiser in Palm Springs in spring 2006, but asked instead that the money for the travel and hotel and tips that fans would have paid to attend the event be donated to AIDS causes. He points out that the Hurricane Katrina charities have eclipsed any AIDS fundraisers, so some charities are in greater need. A tireless activist, Clark will focus on a July 2 Bad Boys on the Hudson event again for the third year in a row, benefiting the Gay/Lesbian Anti Violence Project (AVP.org).

Michael Soldier was a hit doing mainstream stage work in San Francisco through December performing in The House of Blue Leaves at the Actor's Theatre. It's about how the world deals with star status and how that kind of fame makes people nuts.

Falcon Studios may be changing out some of their exclusives with Josh Weston and Brad Patton leaving, but they've got a few more to fill those big shoes. Ethan Kage is being highlighted in Up All Night, ten-inch-dick owner Ralph Woods' next movie is The Big Dick Club, and classic oldtimer Jake Andrews is featured on Falcon.TV in new down-and-dirty interviews with Rod Barry, Pete Ross, and Owen Hawk.
