Bel Ami's George Duroy says Lukas Ridgeston's last movie ever is the upcoming Lukas in Love. And in order to milk it for all it's worth, the title is coming out in two parts and a Premium Collector's Edition with three discs! It's been a five-year project (look for it in August) and you'll want to catch every minute of it. Some of the footage was shot on my front porch when Lukas and Johan Paulik were in town for their GAYVN Hall of Fame inductions and I'm excited to see how much of that makes it in.
Paul Barresi now reveals a bit of behind-the-scenes fun with the hot All Worlds release of Snow Pups starring Brad Benton and Orion Cross. The idea was to mix young twinky boys with macho superstuds, and this time Barresi set them in the snowy mountains of California. "What's surprising is that the guys who you'd think would be enjoying the outdoors and the snow — the macho guys — were the ones who turned out to be real ladies," quipped Barresi. "The butch daddies are the ones who turned out to be the most high maintenance!" Well, although the director wouldn't name names, the most macho of the men in this beautifully-shot vid was whining about the plan to grab a mere sandwich for a meal on the run. He insisted on a sit-down dinner at Coco's before he would go another mile with the porn caravan. Now this is where the acting awards become more meaningful.
Studio 2000's recent Weekend Blowout vid has a unique theme: Every single one of its exclusive studs tops and bottoms. It's nice to see a macho team of guys, some hairy, some completely smooth, some young, some older, all show their versatility under the fine hand of director John Travis. Ace Hanson and his bubble butt tag teams with Rafael Alencar and Jed Willcox. Weekend also includes some exceptional new talent like Jason Harley and Franco Santoro.
The nicest thing for me — for sentimental reasons — about this year's Grabby Awards was the return of Grant Larson, a lanky dark-haired boy-next-door type who always delivered a dependable performance with his long, upwardly-curved ten-incher. He called me before the Chicago show, and I put him in touch with the right people, and he made a big comeback splash to the porn world. "Chi Chi LaRue was so graciously nice, and it was fantastic to see Jerry Douglas again," Larson said about seeing his past directors at the show and being inducted into the Wall of Fame. He was not only a good sex performer, but rather funny too and earned kudos for appearances in the '90s movies Romeo and Julian, The Courtship of Eddie's Finger, and Idol Country. Alas, he won't be making an onscreen comeback any time soon, however, because this brainiac is majoring in Political Science and Sociology at college and is celebrating his fourth year in a "meaningful" relationship.
Popular Hungarian stud Arpad Miklos has a reputation for being overwhelmingly charming on the set. I found him that way with my brief intro to him on the set of BuckleRoos in San Francisco where he told me "Arpad" comes from a Greek god and means "wanderer," and that's how he's been lately. He does have a boyfriend, Kyle Lewis, who was on his arm at the Touche bar in Chicago during the COLT/Buckshot Productions premiere of LeatherBound: Director’s Cut and he had a blast abusing Mr. S Leather boytoy Jonathan onstage. Jonathan was in a straitjacket and LeatherBound director Kristofer Weston directed him and Arpad in a superhot scene. (Weston coaxed them out of their clothes in minutes!)
Something particularly funny happens in Arpad's new video for Adonis Pictures: He's driving a car that breaks down, so he knocks at the door of a hot businessman — in reality, Arpad can't drive and doesn't have a license! Adam Dexter, the mouthwatering COLT exclusive, couldn't get enough of mingling with the crowd during the IML competition in Chicago. COLT premiered Muscle Up! and the breathtaking LeatherBound: Director's Cut (provocatively bound in leather for the reviewers' promotional packs!) which still has my heart pounding. Dexter was also debuting his genuine cast dildo from COLT and California Exotic Novelties — and it's a whopper! No doubt it's been tried out on a lot of his fans since IML.
Video 10 is reviving interest in some of the classic African-American beauties from the recent past, such as Paul Hanson, Bam, and Andre Bolla, with a few DVD re-releases of Nubian Video titles, most notably, Black Men Cruising Crenshaw and Brothas Gettin' Down, directed by Scott Chandler. Paul Hanson does a superb scene on an inner city rooftop in one and he catches another guy off guard in a park and literally bowls him over in another. What are these guys up to these days? Bolla seems to have overcome his obsession with penis pumps, and a few of the others are — dare I say it? — married with children!
