SAN FRANCISCO — There are few things in the industry that aren't public knowledge, but the disappearance of Michael Brandon, famed porn star/director/ studio head, last year was one that those who knew him kept quiet. The GAYVN Award winner turned up today in an interview in the SF Weekly in which he discussed his recent arrest, his slip back into addiction and his continuing battles with both. He would have remained under the radar except for a reporter who recognized the man known as "Monster" (for his enormous penis) during routine trial coverage.
According to the Weekly, in June, a confidential police informant reported that Brandon was selling crystal meth while motel surfing, or moving from place to place under aliases to avoid attention. The police found him and arrested him soon after; he was charged with three felonies for selling meth, speed and ecstasy.
The very public Brandon's disappearance was noted by many through the end of last year. A few in the industry knew the details of the situation, but concern for his privacy was paramount. Brandon's problems with meth were well known, but it was generally recognized that he'd need to want to get clean before he could get help. We hope that his decision to consent to an interview with the Weekly is a sign that he wants to. We wish you the best, Michael, and look forward to your return.
