Gino Colbert has truly made a splashy comeback after a few years of not directing a major feature. He chose The Spotlight Bar, the Hollywood hustler bar known to be frequented by some of the gay elite of Hollywood back in the day, for the premiere party for his new release, Four Score.
About 800 guys came through the door when he kicked off his campaign for Four Score in February. The party featured male strippers and free DVDs. The event attracted some big porn names from the past, like Blue Blake and his partner Harold. Blue says he's finishing up the final touches of a tell-all autobiography of his life in the adult film world. Although he was widely reported to have quit directing and starring in videos, he's as hunky and muscular as ever and says that if there's a company willing to meet his requirements for distribution, he's willing to get cranking behind the camera again.
Another surprise at the party was David Thompson, another former director and star, who said he is working on another play and also planning on doing more writing. Thompson shocked the crowd when he came out of retirement and ended up stripping along with the models from Colbert's film. Also, Ryan Block, the former famous Latino porn stud, showed up and a few hardcore fans recognized him and chatted him up. He tells me that he often gets recognized by fans during his job as an air conditioning installer. He gets gigs at major mainstream studios around town and when he goes to some of the happier studios on Earth, he gets recognized a lot more.
Not only is Colbert planning more parties at the Spotlight, but his annual Colbert film festival is going on at the TomKat Theatre in West Hollywood, featuring the debut of his latest epic, which stars Trevor Knight, Ben Damon, Nick Capra, Brady Martin and many more including his widely touted "Asian Sex Machine," Eric Hung.
Four Score 2, the follow-up four-scene vignette movie, will also feature Hung and includes Brad Rock, Rob Romoni, Jason Crew, John Marcus, and Todd Smith. Gino will also be doing giveaways at the Melrose Spa, just keep your eyes open for the promotions.
Paul Barresi is getting some Scientology heat because Tom Cruise's people are trying to stop a book that he's helped with which delves into more gay rumors about the superstar. Cruise successfully stopped any more babbling around the porn world about him, but Barresi isn't afraid. He's helping Diane Dimond from Hard Copy release her Be Careful Who You Love book which talks also about the Michael Jackson case, and brings up some of the porn friends whom Jackson knew.
AMG is delving into early erotic memories, with a fascinating bonus extra on their AMG Resurrection: The Polynesian and the Sailor DVD. The cast and the crew tell stories about their first male-male erotic memory in the bonus features, and there's also a mouthwatering scene between Jason Adonis and Timmy Thomas while Ross Stuart looks on.
Andrew Rosen went from video editor to stints in front of the camera. Now he's behind-the-camera again as director of Jet Set's Going Under.
Meanwhile, Video 10 is getting us wet with water titles, like Dive for It, Morasse Lake, and Riverboat Seamen all coming out lately, with the best of the bunch, A Rim With a View 2, which is sure to make viewers squirm with delight.
Can't wait to see Chris Steele's Big Dick Club for Falcon. No, you don't have to measure up, just watch their exclusives Ralph Woods and the comeback of that cute Pierre Fitch along with Roman Heart, Jason Crew, and a topnotch cast.
Finally, the Raging Stallion team is keeping us breathless with the titles they're pumping out. Rookies has scenes called "Filthy Four-Ways" and "Dirty Locker Room Guys" while Manifesto is Chris Ward's bookend to his magical, erotic Arabesque. Their third Construction Zone is completely mindblowing, and that's all not even in the first quarter of the year! It looks like it's going to be a good year!
