Maleflixxx Pledges $1 per Rental on World AIDS Day

TORONTO—Gay adult video-on-demand service Maleflixxx will donate $1 from every rental accomplished Tuesday to fighting the virus that causes HIV-AIDS. The donation is the company’s way of honoring World AIDS Day, which occurs annually on Dec. 1. This year marks the fifth for Maleflixxx’s charitable effort.

The World Aids Day donation will benefit numerous charitable organizations throughout 2010. During 2009, Maleflixxx donated to CAP AIDS, TPAN, the Folsom Fund, PRIDE Toronto and the gay hockey and soccer leagues of Toronto.

“We are proud to have a longstanding tradition of giving back to our local community as well as charitable organizations from around the world,” said Eric Johnson, president of Maleflixxx parent company Sureflix Digital Distribution, which recently became a division of Barcelona-based Private Media Group. “With the recent economic downturn, it is important now, more than ever, to support these non-profit organizations that strive to increase the quality of life for mankind.”

Most recently, Maleflixxx agreed to make a £500 donation to the Mission Malawi fund, which raises money for ActionAid, a program working toward HIV-AIDS awareness and prevention in Malawi. As part of the fundraiser, three team members from Recon.com will take part in a 500km bicycle trip across Malawi and Mozambique. Malawi is one of Africa’s least developed countries. One in seven persons there lives with the disease. To donate to the effort, click here.
