NEW YORK—MaleServe.TV, a pay-per-minute video-on-demand site, has launched. Created by Online Developments LLC, the website employs the company’s proprietary MaleServe Flash video streaming platform.
“MaleServe.TV provides near-DVD-quality movies to any PC or Mac via a web browser,” said Bruce Weiner, who heads Online Developments’ information technology division. “No additional software is needed, and customers pay only for what they watch. It’s a great way to watch your favorite movies without having to have a DVD in hand.”
According to Online Developments Product Manager Hugo Harley, the site offers “a huge selection” of gay movies from brands including Eurocreme, Lucas Entertainment, Raw Films, Millivres Prowler, Alpha Male Media, Pacific Sun and Video Boys. Producers, he added, enjoy the new platform’s pricing structure because they can customize per-minute rates to suit their needs.
“The biggest difference between the MaleServe platform and the other market-leading platforms is that studio producers have the option to set the individual cost per minute for their content,” Harley said. “Compared with others, which have a ‘one price fits all’ model, this incentivizes studios to pre-release their DVD content to the web ahead of market DVD releases at a higher price than their back-catalog titles.
“In today’s market, producers are looking beyond DVD sales to monetize their content,” he continued. “Our VOD platform allows producers to pre-release a feature DVD before or during the manufacturing phase. Because it is a pre-release, they can set a higher per-minute price and start seeing income on their films within one month of VOD release instead of the five- to six-month window in DVD wholesale.”
The platform is available in a white-label version for studios that would prefer to brand their VOD offerings independently. Eurocreme is the first studio to take advantage of that capability, launching Eurocreme.TV at the same time MaleServe.TV bowed.
“Eurocreme.TV is a custom-designed white label that plugs into the client’s existing online network,” Online Developments Managing Director Jason Roberts said. “The producer did not want a cookie-cutter white label. They wanted a solution where they could control the look, feel and content, especially since they wanted to run a ‘condom-only’ solution.
“We will soon be launching other standalone solutions, each one built and branded according to each client’s needs, while allowing them access to stream our library of top-shelf gay content,” he added.
