Famed director/party thrower Chi Chi LaRue celebrated his 46th birthday Thursday night at West Hollywood's The Abbey. LaRue's birthday bash has become one of those annual events that the porn world is on alert for in early November.
This year, the public event was preceded by an invitation-only book launch for Chi Chi LaRue's Warning, a collection of gay porn star photos shot by fashion photographer Greg Thompson.
Poster-size blow-ups of photos from the book adorned the walls of the venue. Rascal exclusives Johnny Hazzard, Eddie Stone, and Luca Di Corso were among the photobook's subjects who were part of the celebration.
Thompson, very pleased with the reaction his book received, told GAYVN he hopes to do another in the future.
Three hundred guests showed up for the launch. They were joined by "another couple hundred after the doors opened for the birthday party," said Rob Reimer, Channel 1 Releasing's Director of Marketing and Events.
The room was awash in porn stars and adult-industry notables, and Q-TV was there to capture them all.
Early in the evening, Jason Sechrest presented LaRue with a pizza-sized birthday cookie, then raced off to host Cocktails With the Stars at Micky's.
LaRue worked the room for the first hour or so, then spent most of the rest of the evening demurely deejaying.
