Johnny Castle Named "Men Magazine" Man of the Year

VAN NUYS, Calif. - Johnny Castle has been named "2007 Man of the Year" by Men Magazine , taking over the crown from the 2006 winner, Zeb Atlas.

Castle appears on the cover of Men's 2008 calendar, and he was featured on the cover and inside of the magazine's March 2007 issue.

"The ballots have been tallied, and after more than 10,000 votes from readers across the world, Johnny Castle has claimed the top spot as Men Magazine's 2007 Man of the Year," according to a prepared statement released Wednesday by Men Magazine publisher Specialty Publications.

The January 2008 issue, which features new and exclusive photos of Castle and his four hottest rivals, will hit newsstands Dec. 4.

"The Man of the Year competition is almost always a photo finish, so to speak," Men editor in chief David Kalmansohn said. "Our top finalists are some of the sexiest, studliest guys in the world. Still, Johnny seemed to stay just ahead of the pack all the way in. He really gives the readers what they want, as you can see from this special issue."

Castle, who grew up on the East Coast, began his adult career doing straight films. To date he has appeared only in solo scenes for gay adult Internet sites and studios.

In early August Castle, 27, began touring as a featured performer in gay nightclubs. He was an instant hit, according to his agent, David Forest . On Nov. 23 and 24, Castle will perform in the 10th state he's hit since then, at Cupid's Sports Bar in West Palm Beach, Fla.

"I'm in Pennsylvania visiting family for the holidays [right now]," Castle said. "I'm still not believing that I won. I called David [Forest] back three times just in case they had made a mistake. This has really been a great year!"

Castle plans to launch a website, JohnnyCastleXXX.com, soon.
