Jason Sechrest to Host JRL Gay Film Awards

LOS ANGELES—Jason Sechrest, a sharp-tongued blogger and talk show/nightclub host, has been tapped to host the first-ever JRL Gay Film Awards. Actress and comedienne Tina Kim is among the evening’s scheduled entertainment.

“Jason Sechrest is a great choice to host this year’s show,” said JRL President Christopher Thais. “I’m sure he’s going to bring a fresh platform that everyone will enjoy.”

Sechrest, who has blogged at JasonCurious.com for more than 10 years and in 2009 founded his own talent-management agency, DV8 Casting, said he’s looking forward to having his own teleprompter, among other things.

“It’s an honor to be asked to host an event at such a legendary venue where Madonna has held release parties and Liza has come to chill with her gays,” he said. “They’re putting a lot into this, and it’s going to be a really slick production, much grander in scale than anything I’ve hosted in the past. I don’t think I’ve used teleprompters since hosting the morning news in high school. It will be an evening where the gay porn industry can have a wild and fun time—a time to be proud of all their accomplishments over 2009-2010.”

The JRL Gay Film Awards are scheduled to take place Sept. 19 at Jewel’s Catch One in Los Angeles. The event will be open to industry insiders and the public.

The awards are determined by industry and fan voting, which began Friday at JRLGayFilmAwards.com and will end Aug. 13. Awards will be given in 50 categories.
