PHILADELPHIA - Jane Lynch will receive the 2008 Artistic Award for Acting and Alec Mapa will receive the Entertainer of the Year Award during the 14th Annual Philadelphia International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. The festival, hosted by the Philadelphia Film Society, will take place July 10-22.
Lynch will receive her award on July 12 at the Prince Music Theater's screening of Tru Loved, Lynch's new movie. Mapa will receive his on July 18 along with a screening of his stand-up-comedy routine.
Lynch's theater background began with the famed Second City comedy troupe. The writer, actress and comedienne is best known to fans for roles in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Best in Show, and Showtime's "The L Word."
America's self-proclaimed "Gaysian Sweetheart," Mapa got his first professional break when he was cast to replace B.D. Wong in the Broadway production of M. Butterfly. Mapa has performed in You Don't Mess With the Zohan, Tru Loved, "Ugly Betty" and "Desperate Housewives."
