Interview | D.O.

We sat down with Genre coverboy and former model DO to ask him about getting behind the camera, the casting couch and the catwalk.

1. Tell us about your new film and why you decided to take a turn behind the camera.

My new film, Sexsessions One, is the premier production for the new Black Rat division of Black Scorpion Entertainment. When I was asked if I would be interested in directing this new movie, I felt it was a great opportunity that I didn't want to miss out on.

2. Do you plan on leaving performing behind?

No, absolutely not. As a performer I feel my career has just started, but this is a way for me to use my experience as a performer to further expand into a new area in gay adult movies as a director as well. I will get the experience of being on both sides of the camera, which will make me a better performer as well.

3. What unique perspective do you think you can bring to the director's chair since you are a performer yourself?

As a director who is also a performer I have an opportunity to interact with the performers in a way that is very different from just directing. I used to work in television with advertising and modeling internationally and I feel I have the experience to make something different in the gay adult industry.

4. Are you performing in your directorial debut?

Both yes and no. I am not performing in the traditional way, like fucking in front of the camera, but I am very much interacting with the performers as we are filming. I am constantly talking to the guys and telling them what to do, and if, for instance, a dick falls out I would help it back to the right hole. It really turns the guys on. It is a new way of being behind the scenes at a porn shoot.

5. What is your stance on barebacking in films?

I feel that we as professionals in the gay adult industry have a responsibility toward gay men that watch our movies.... If you love life you always practice safe sex. Barebacking is not safe sex unless you are doing it in a long-term, monogamous relationship. Right now I am creating a luxe coffee-table book called Different Sides of D.O. for which I have invited some of the best photographers in the world to photograph me as they see me: classical, softcore or hardcore. It is being produced under the umbrella of Black Scorpion and all the proceeds are going to an AIDS charity.

6. Will you direct your upcoming film in Europe or the States?

All my films to date have been made in the States, and this last one was made in Florida in May.

7. What porn stars would you like to get on the casting couch before putting them in a role?

There are so many hot guys in our industry that I cannot single out one. I would like to have a big orgy with a whole bunch of them. Then after the orgy I will tell you in what roles they would be best.

8. You're a former model: Which industry is more cutthroat, the catwalk or the cockwalk?

Let me tell you that both industries have a lot in common. You have to look good, sexy and healthy and in both situations it comes down to who is most professional to determine who gets the job and who doesn't.
