PHOENIX - Twink production companies Surfside Studios and Hyde Park Productions have joined forces to collaborate on several projects, including future videos and self-distribution of their respective products.
The collaboration brings together producer and director Rick Warner of Surfside and twink video directors and producers Doug Knight and Ted McIntyre of Hyde Park.
"Our first project that we will be working with Rick on is Hyde Park's upcoming Timeless Twinks," Knight said. "We will be incorporating some of the look and feel of an early '80s-style video, and Rick was the best director, in my opinion, to direct the ‘retro' scenes that are such an integral part of this movie. I will be directing the present-day scenes, but together we will all be working to make this happen."
Warner, who began his career shooting for Catalina Video's William Higgins in the middle 1980s, added, "I think this is the perfect time for just such a project, especially with so many concerned about the economy. We all love to look back nostalgically on the 1980s as times of good music, good times and incredible gay videos. I look forward to working on Timeless Twinks and being transported back to those days, which should be fun in the upcoming epic, which has the hottest talent I have seen in ages."
Warner also is in the process of digitally re-mastering his classic titles for re-release as directorial special editions.
"When Doug mentioned that Rick was willing to join us in realizing the vision of Timeless Twinks, I was extremely surprised, since I am so familiar with this work," McIntyre said. "I grew up in the '80s and, like so many of my generation and our customers, experienced my first gay porn from William Higgins and Rick Warner."
The companies plan to combine their in-house distribution channels to benefit both entities.
"We want to be able to reach a broader market, which has created the need to distribute our product to consumers, retail outlets and the larger distributors directly," Knight said. "Distributors in the past have actually limited where our titles have gone. They just have too much on their plates and represent too many studios to justify exclusive distribution by just one company.
"We welcome all of the major distribution companies and retail outlets to contact Hyde Park and Surfside directly to be placed on our list for upcoming releases," he added.
Timeless Twinks is scheduled to street in mid April.
