BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Hustler TV on Wednesday launched a new video-on-demand service aimed at providing satellite and cable television providers with gay adult entertainment. Called HIS TV, the product offers content from studios like CitiBoyz, Next Door Studios and Hustler subsidiary VCA's HIS line.
"Gay men, largely by virtue of their retail power, are often early adopters when it comes to cutting-edge tech," said LFP Inc. and Hustler TV president Michael H. Klein. "They are three times as likely as straight men to already have access to interactive TV. This market reality bodes well for HIS."
According to Klein, gay men represent an untapped market in television's VOD segment. An estimated population of 15 million gay American consumers wield a collective buying power of $610 billion.
Drawing on more than 30 years of experience managing VOD, pay-per-view and adult content across several distribution channels, Hustler TV plans to roll out HIS with strict internal standards and practices. HIS will deliver competitive splits to content producers, Klein said. For consumers and providers, the product will offer new titles monthly with a 50-percent refresh rate. Multiple package sizes and edit versions will enable HIS to meet any cable operator's needs, Klein noted.
