AMSTERDAM - Homoactive.TV, a provider of gay content in Web-streaming format, has launched a sister site, HomoactiveDownload.com.
HomoactiveDownload offers 25 of the most successful titles from the European bareback studio Staxus. Currently all content is in English, although project manager Jamie Gilmour said the company is working to translate everything into other languages. He also said the company hopes to add more studios soon.
Gilmour likened the service to "illegal file-sharing without the trouble."
Homoactive managing director Stephen Thompson said Homoactive.TV's early success helped fund development of the new site. Launched in June 2008, Homoactive.TV drew "huge interest and acceptance from customers and other studios in such a short space of time, [and that] came as a very big surprise to us," he said.
"Streaming is the new DVD - a point that's clearly demonstrated in the success of our platform," Thompson said. "But we still had constant user requests asking for legal downloads of our movies, and it's for this reason that we launched HomoactiveDownload."
