HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Gay XXX producer/director Jamie Hendrix and his former distributor, Pacific Sun Entertainment, have settled their differences. Pacific Sun once again has been contracted to release Hendrix' new feature, Friendly Force.
The companies' separation involved a disagreement about the number of units of the new title Pacific Sun felt it could sell.
"Times have changed" since Hendrix' left the adult entertainment business in 2000, he said. "I know that. I totally get that in today's ‘soft' DVD market and with the struggling economy, you don't move 1,000 units out the door."
Hendrix also said he was glad the companies parted on good terms, and he feels their discussions subsequent to the parting has made his relationship stronger with Pacific Sun manager Pritam Sinha.
"I had a chance to look around and found nothing that matched the unparalleled care and support that Pritam and Pacific Sun offer to me," Hendrix said. "I want to thank all the other distributors that did make offers, but Pritam is a man of his word. That's good enough for me. I still believe in him, his company and the direction he is going with the advent of ever-changing technology."
Hendrix said he plans to launch a multifaceted marketing assault soon and hopes to sell copies of the film not only in the U.S., but also overseas and on cable television and the Internet.
"The producers who distribute through us are like part of the family," Sinha said. "I personally welcome Jamie back to the family. One thing that distinguishes us from the other distributors is the individual attention our producers receive from us. That's one of many reasons why so many producers have joined us in the last few months."
Hendrix describes Friendly Force as "a story-driven gay XXX cop drama filmed in high-definition." The movie stars newcomer Chad Clovis.
