"Grunts" Breaks One-Day Sales Records

SAN FRANCISCO - Grunts, Raging Stallion's military epic, on Tuesday broke industry records for first-day retail sales, the company announced Wednesday.

Studio representatives said they sent out a mailing at 9 a.m. and immediately began receiving phone and Internet orders for the new title. In retail sales alone, the movie's 24-hour take was estimated to exceed $25,000. No wholesale sales figures were available at posting time.

"We are obviously elated," said studio president and Grunts co-director Chris Ward. "We expected strong numbers out of the gate given the amazing amount of press and industry buzz the project has generated. Even so, I was not really prepared to make back 10 percent of the entire production cost in one day!

"I am also very impressed with the sales volume of the six-disc set," he continued. "At a $150 price point, I was worried that customers would hesitate to make such a large purchase. Our customers, however, clearly know that when they buy from Raging Stallion, they are getting a guaranteed excellent product."

In addition to the six-disc set, customers have the option of purchasing the movie in three parts, each of which was filmed to be a stand-alone product. However, purchasing the six discs at once saves buyers more than $50.

Raging Stallion long has had a policy of providing 100% refunds to customers who are dissatisfied with any of its movies for any reason, including personal taste. Grunts comes with the guarantee.

One of the most expensive gay erotic movies ever made, Grunts defies the trend of replacing big-budget porn with shorter, more amateur-based products. Raging Stallion and others are watching Grunts' performance to determine whether the "blockbuster" format still has a market. From initial response, it seems epics aren't dead, after all.

Grunts is available at the producer's website, GayDVD and TLA Video. Naked Sword and Raging Stallion are the joint producers of Grunts. Video Streaming of the film is scheduled to begin on Nakedsword.com in January.
