Gay Porn Star Gets Naked In Atlanta Stage Play

Falcon Studios' “lifetime exclusive” Matthew Rush will be taking his clothes off this Thursday. But this time the muscular model won’t be doing it in front of the camera, but under the stage lights of the 14th Street Playhouse in Atlanta where he will appear beginning November 6th in the title role in a new production of Ronnie Larsen and Joe Bailey’s comedy My Boyfriend, the Stripper.

In the play, Rush plays an erotic dancer hired to perform at a birthday party who falls in love with and begins dating the birthday boy—in spite of the reservations of friends. Through the course of the play, which charts the ups and downs of the subsequent relationship, love is tested, sex is had, and lots of clothes come off.

“Doing this sort of thing is not something I would ever thought I’d be doing, but it’s been a good experience,” said Rush in a story posted on southernvoice.com. But Rush’s statement is not entirely true; the popular model, whose most recent adult appearance is in Chi Chi LaRue’s latest Falcon extravaganza Drenched 1 & 2, appeared prior to My Boyfriend in a Blue Blake-directed production of Larsen’s parody of the adult film business, Making Porn.

Of course, stunt casting such as Rush’s is not uncommon for Larsen’s plays. There is a long history of porn models taking to the stage to branch out from condoms and lube to memorized dialogue and audience applause. Ryan Idol made a splash in Larsen’s Making Porn, as did former power-couple Blake Harper and Jason Branch, while Gino Golbert, Max Grand, and many others dropped trou in 10 Naked Men. Elsewhere, Jeff Stryker lent his own 10-inch star power to a production of Larsen’s All-Male Peep Show.

However, despite Rush’s role as a stripper, My Boyfriend represents a slight shift away from the adult film industry into less prurient territory. Says the show’s producer Caryn Horowitz, “The other shows have been more about sex. This one is more sweet. It has a lot to do with chance, carpe diem, and relationships.”

Also appearing in the cast are Dan, the gay model who appeared on MTV’s The Real World: Miami, and Atlanta-based actors Michael Robertson and Steven Stover.

My Boyfriend, the Stripper debuts at the 14th Street Playhouse, located at 173 14th St., on Nov. 6 and will run through Nov. 23. For more information or tickets, call (404) 733-4754.
