LOS ANGELES—Gay porn performer Mike Dozer (pictured) was arrested by Delaware police in December for allegedly having sex with an underage male on gay social network Jack'd. Charges at the time of his arrest included statutory rape, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault for the sex with the 14-year-old.
However, according to Queerty, "This week, porn insiders have learned that the charges against 33-year-old Dozer (real name Christopher Steele) have been enhanced to include reckless endangerment, because Dozer allegedly may not have disclosed his HIV+ status before giving the boy poppers (NSFW) and having sex with him."
Dozer's lawyer, Kevin Wray, argued that the social network requires users to be over 18, implying that the boy lied about his age in order to use the site, and that once Dozer realized that the boy was underage, he tried to end relations before things got too far, but that the boy “kept pursuing him and apparently had done so with others.”
Wray also expressed his discontent with the reckless endangerment charges, telling the Philadelphia Gay News, “It bothered me a great deal and seemed to be offensive. He takes medication and is constantly moderating it. Charging someone with [reckless endangerment] because they are HIV-positive is homophobic and ignorant. We don’t go to people who have herpes, colds, strep throat and charge them. If that is the standard, they need to be indicting everybody. It’s amazing that, 35 years later, the public is still oblivious to the simple fact that HIV does not equal AIDS.”
Dozer is currently being held in a Montgomery County jail on $1 million bail, with his next court date set for Feb. 27.
