Aiming to make and keep a comfort level between straight and gay adult Webmasters, both in business and social terms, Cybersocket will host what they call the first Unity Ball January 5, in Las Vegas, during Internext.
"We strive to create events where all guests are comfortable and have ample opportunity to build long lasting relationships," said Cybersocket president Morgan Sommer. "It¹s very important that both gay and straight Webmasters have an opportunity to exchange ideas, share information, and socialize in a relaxed atmosphere. We¹re very proud to be hosting the first ever Unity Ball. The industry is stronger when it stands as one."
Proceeds will benefit Adult Sites Against Child Pornography, the Internet Media Protective Association/Acacia Defense Fund, Free Speech Coalition, and Adult Industry Medical Health Care Foundation.
Sommers told AVN.comthe Unity Party's root was in conversations between Cybersocket's people and various people attending Gay Erotic Expo and Libras Gone Wild parties recently.
"We were talking with Cynthia from AEBN and Tonja from Goodthinxx, about the gay Webmaster parties that we normally do," Sommers said. "And there was just expressed that half the people who come to the parties we do aren't gay, anyway. And the whole point of (us) having the parties isn't just to reinforce being gay, it's for doing business with people.
"So we're saying this isn't just a gay party," he continued. "And we're going to make the environment that is appreciated and welcoming to everyone in the industry. It's not going to be some over-the-top girlie sex show, but it's not going to be naked go-go boys like we do at some of our parties."
Sommers said he hopes the Unity Party helps lead to all Internext parties becoming parties for everyone, not just one or another sexual orientation's contingency. "Parties for everyone," he said.
The Unity Ball is one of three events Cybersocket has planned for Internext. Their fourth annual Cybersocket Web Awards Show and Gay Webmaster Cocktail Party are set for January 6, and a kind of Internext farewell gathering in its annual Adult Industry House Party January 7.
"These events," the company said, "are designed to build business-to-business relationships within the gay Webmaster community as well as the larger adult Webmaster community." And all events are open to all adult Webmasters and Internext showgoers, but sponsors get three times the exposure.
