Gay Erotica and Entertainment 'DVDzine' to Launch in June

LoadDisc, a new entertainment news and reality show that will be the first to focus on gay erotica and entertainment, is slated to debut on DVD this June. LoadDisc is the creation of Jeff Rosenberg, recently of Specialty Publications, whose cable industry and motion picture marketing background provided the impetus for this venture.

Comparing LoadDisc to entertainment magazine shows like Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood, Rosenberg stated in a press release issued this week that "there are many gay adult studios, magazines, and Internet sites that do a wonderful job. After speaking with others in the industry, I felt there was a need for our own magazine program to showcase these companies."

The "DVD magazine" will feature interviews and behind-the-scenes bits with talent, directors, and producers in the adult industry. There will also be regular segments on Internet sites, erotic art, exercise, and lifestyle, all presented, Rosenberg says, in "a fun and entertaining way." It will begin in quarterly installments, with subsequent "issues" to be released in September and December before going monthly in January 2005.

Rosenberg said that, as he didn't expect any cable system to jump on a similar show anytime soon, he decided not to wait for "an atmosphere of acceptance" and chose to break the path himself. "The DVD market is the perfect place to start. The gay XXX studios' audience is a DVD-buying audience," Rosenberg told AVN.com on Friday. "What better way to show trailers than on a magazine show like this one?

"When a studio releases a movie, they have the trailers on their DVDs, but you have to be a customer of that company to see those trailers," he continued. "I'm not looking to create adult content. There are already people who create adult content and they do it very well. The reason I'm doing this is to get it out there to a wider audience."

Rosenberg said that he intends to use ongoing talent- and director-spotlights because "people are into the celebrity of the talent. I want this to be a tool to bridge the industry to the consumer. It's a tool consumers can use to educate themselves to what is out there. And it's a tool to help the talent become celebrities in their own right. This way I can bring a face to porn for the consumer."
