CHATSWORTH, Calif.—The 2010 GAYVN Awards will return to San Francisco’s historic Castro Theatre on Friday, Sept. 24. The 12th annual “Oscars of gay adult entertainment” gala will occur in the midst of four days of nonstop action in conjunction with the legendary Folsom Street Fair.
The Castro Theatre, at the epicenter of gay culture and history, is known for its charm and twice before has provided an elegant background as the gay adult industry’s best and brightest were honored for their achievements over the previous year.
The weekend will kick off on Thursday, Sept. 23, with a crawl through the bars of San Francisco’s storied SoMa district. Studios and nominees are laying plans to double-team Folsom and GAYVN attendees by hosting star appearances and other special events in some of the area’s most celebrated nightspots.
The party will continue Friday, Saturday and Sunday with both adult- and Folsom-related events. Folsom Street Fair has been a San Francisco tradition since 1984 and represents one of the world’s largest congregations of the leather community.
Deadline for GAYVN Awards pre-nominations is June 15. In order to be considered for a 2010 award, a production must have been released between Jan. 1, 2009, and May 31, 2010. Newcomers, studio marketing campaigns and web-based promotions and marketing efforts must have debuted during the same period.
Studios and individuals may email [email protected] for a username, password and link to the submissions page. Industry insiders may nominate as many titles, people and companies as they desire in any category; however, participants are encouraged to nominate only their best efforts.
DVD and web categories are included in this year’s GAYVN Awards lineup. For the second year in a row, the Trailblazer award will be presented to an individual whose life and career have made a lasting impact on the gay adult industry. New this year is a special “Personality of the Year” award, to be presented to the nominee who typifies the spirit and joie de vivre of the gay community as determined by fans.
