CHICAGO - Gay adult actor-turned-director Lee Stern made Canyon Studios famous in the mid-1980s with his use of onscreen realism and sensuality. Canyon Studios' films were notable for including youthful, vigorous, smooth models who generally were well-endowed and raring to go. Among them were Chad Johnson and Mark Steel.
Bijou Video has restored, re-mastered and repackaged five of Stern's most successful Canyon Creek films and released them on DVD: Full House, Growing Years, All the Right Boys, Desert Heat and Southern Comforts.
Full House's depiction of sexcapades among the members of a fraternity makes Animal House look tame. The movie features Chad Johnson, Dane Ford, Peter King and Chaz Holderman as some of the horny frat brothers.
Growing Years begins innocently enough with a trio of guys playing Scrabble and talking about Dungeons & Dragons before more "adult" games break out. The 1986 release stars Devon Adams, Steve Daniels, Rick Conti, Sean Williams and Chris Thompson.
In All the Right Boys, a young man new to the big city of Los Angeles learns what he needs to know about life from boys who know how to enjoy it. Scott Roberts portrays the young hero with Cory Baker, Tony Roberts, Michael Cummings and Dana Pearson as the posse that shows him the ropes. An onscreen appearance by Stern is a special treat.
An overwhelming desire for just "one more time" is demonstrated in the film Desert Heat as guests at a Palm Springs resort try to soak up as much pleasure as they can before check-out time. Billy Sparks, Jeff Bentley, Shawn Peters, Tony Roberts and Sergio Canali are among the vacationers.
The innocence of youth is juxtaposed against the sexual flowering of manhood in Southern Comforts. The film features Justin Tyler, Rob Monroe, Steve Daniels, Ryan Thomas, Randy Adkins and Tony Roberts.
