BERLIN - Düsseldorf, Germany-based XY-Studios oHG received four David Awards and Amsterdam-based OTB Video claimed two others during Friday's gala festivities.
The second annual David Awards presentation, patterned in part after America's GAYVN Awards, was hosted by GAYeLINE magazine in Berlin during the Venus trade show and recognized gay erotic films and filmmakers from around the globe.
Receiving the award for Best European Studio was a proud moment for XY-Studios, according to junior manager René Bolinski. "With this award, all of our five labels have been honored," he said, referring to the studios' Man's-Art, Skater-Boys, Street Boys, Turkish-Boys, and Euro-Stallions lines, all of which shared in the company's 2007 David for Best Gay Internet Portal.
XY's Marek Bruckner took the Best European Director award for his work with such titles as Your Cum Is Mine; Piss Me Up, Taste My Sperm; Sperm Kisses; and Sperm Suckers. Bruckner's friend and XY-Studios colleague Marcel Bruckmann won the Best European Director award in 2006.
XY-Studios also won the awards for Best European Fetish Movie: Pissing - Director's Cut, which will be available in the U.S. starting Nov. 17.
OTB Video claimed the 2007 David Award for Best Movie Series and Best Latin Feature.
The Best Movie Series award was earned against tough competition from Bel Ami 's XL Files series, which pleased Rene from OTB Video. "I'm very happy that OTB Video productions can win anything against a legendary studio like Bel Ami," he said. "[The win shows] that demand from consumers is the driving force in the market today, and it's up to conscientious producers to fill those demands responsibly and with quality products."
OTB's Cumparty 5 claimed the award for Best Latin Feature. Only recently released in the U.S. through OTB's North American distributor, All Boys Distribution, the movie topped the Latin gay charts at JRL for several weeks.
Rene said OTB plans to release two more movies via All Boys later this year. The company also plans to unveil "some pleasant surprises for loyal customers" during AVN's Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas in January.
"It seems everyone will be seeing much more of OTB Video's colorful artwork in the future," Rene hinted.
