VANCOUVER, Wash. - Gay adult website DominicFord.com has released what it believes to be the first 3D porn formatted for Web streaming. The 3D scenes also are available for the iPod and iPhone.
"Everyone always says ‘porn' when you talk about the potential uses of 3D technology," said Dominic Ford, who owns the eponymous website. "However, no one has taken it seriously because it is difficult to do well and expensive to produce. With the resurgence of 3D movies and television shows, we thought now was a great time to take our industry in a new direction.
"More than just being a gimmick, our 3D movies change the experience of watching adult films," he added. "It is like you are lying next to our stars. You can practically reach out and touch them."
Ford said standard red-cyan glasses are required to view the 3D content. The company already has sent custom-printed glasses to its current U.S. subscribers. New members will receive glasses in the mail as soon as possible after they subscribe.
"Anyone with 3D glasses at home can use them as well," Ford said. "DominicFord.com uses the red-cyan glasses most 3D DVDs contain, not the blue-yellow ones distributed for this year's Super Bowl."
The website currently offers three of the high-tech videos, but Ford said he plans to release a new 3D scene each week. The first 3D video to bow online featured Arpad Miklos and Blu Kennedy in the first scene ever to pair the gay adult entertainment veterans.
Ford said his company will continue to release 2D versions of its titles.
