Dominic Ford Makes Early New Year’s Resolutions

NEW YORK—DominicFord.com got into the holiday spirit in an innovative way this year by lending the website’s expertise in 3D gay adult content creation to an adult store’s holiday marketing efforts. The window dressing at New York City’s The Blue Store is believed to be the first of its kind: an interactive 3D display featuring a flat-panel TV playing scenes from the studio’s upcoming feature film Whorrey Potter and the Sorcerer’s Balls. Though the DVD isn’t expected until February, passersby can get a sneak preview of a few 3D scenes through a special lens mounted on the window glass—no nerdy 3D glasses required.

The window display is the first step in a rebranding and remodeling of DominicFord.com, a web-based studio that has been blazing new trails online since February 2009. When it debuted, the studio was the first to offer 3D gay adult content over the web. Over the next year, Ford said he plans to take the studio in more new directions.

“We are ending the year in a great place and are thrilled to announce major changes taking place in early 2010,” he said. “Currently we are working with some of the biggest and brightest people in the [adult marketing] industry to evolve our brand, including the DominicFord.com site, our logo, our DVD line, etc. Once this process is complete, it will obvious to people that we are ready to take our high-quality 2D and 3D porn to an even larger audience in the new year.”

The first phase in the redevelopment project already is under way. Ford and his crew recently began offering downloadable, full-length movies in 1920 x 1080 resolution. According to Ford, all new scenes posted to the website—both 2D and 3D—will be available in the new high-definition resolution, as well as in lower-res versions for users without speedy connections.

“We listened to our customers, and we have heard loud and clear they want larger photos and larger videos,” Ford said. “While our previous largest video size—960 x 540—is the standard among popular online adult sites, we decided to plunge right into full HD, which is 1920 x 1080. We are also introducing larger photo sizes in our photo sets.”

The company also plans to begin converting its back catalog to the 1920 x 1080 after the first of the year.

“We’re pulling out all the stops to make our 2D and 3D porn site one of the best and most talked about in 2010,” Ford said, adding such a “pushing the envelope” philosophy helped the studio land several award nominations during its first year in existence. Among them are Cybersocket Web Awards noms for “Best New Site” and “Best Amateur Video Site” and an XBIZ nod for “Best GLBT Company.”
