DirtyBoyVideo Debuts Anti-Piracy PSAs

NEW YORK—Gay adult studio DirtyBoyVideo has embarked upon a public service campaign aimed at raising consumer awareness of content piracy, especially that associated with so-called “tube sites.”

The first in what the company plans to be a series of short videos was posted on YouTube Feb. 1. The humorous, safe-for-work spot equates stealing porn with funding terrorism and exhorts consumers to “pay for your porn [because] it’s American.”

“When you get off for free, a model goes hungry, weakening his resistance to extreme ideology,” the video’s narrator explains.

DirtyBoyVideo owner Andy Fair said although light-hearted, the public service announcements carry a serious message.

“It is time the gay adult entertainment industry made an effort to educate the consumer,” Fair said. “Those who feel the real toll of piracy and free porn aren’t the faceless production companies, but the most vulnerable members of the industry: the models themselves.”

Fair gave credit to other producers who are doing what he called “a great service” by taking legal action against pirate sites, but DirtyBoyVideo wants to speak directly to consumers, he said.

“It is the fans of gay adult entertainment who choose whether or not to support piracy,” he noted, adding that most consumers probably don’t realize the models “are just trying to pay for college, get their teeth fixed, or just buy something nice for their mom’s birthday. [Gay porn isn’t] all cock and coke.”
