SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Dink Flamingo has acquired MyStraightBuddy.com, which he said is a natural companion to his popular military fantasy site, Active Duty. The main difference between the two is that My Straight Buddy "focuses more on the everyday aspects" of being a young serviceman, Flamingo said.
Founder Joe Carder said he was inspired to create My Straight Buddy by his enjoyment of Active Duty. The site has featured "some of my close military buddies doing wild and crazy things while I film them," Carder said. "Viewers and fans of MyStraightBuddy.com have routinely been given access to a very different side of our men in - and out - of uniform."
Flamingo, who has filmed and photographed real military men since becoming a guest director for Dirk Yates in 1997, said he and Carder are fans of each other's work.
"I fell in love with Joe's work the moment I first laid eyes on his website," Flamingo said. "What Joe has done is something so different from what I've done with Active Duty, yet the two complement each other so well. Joe's work covers a side of the military niche that Active Duty only scrapes the surface on. Joe focuses on the men and their personalities, even if it means leaving out the sex, and there's something just as fucking sexy about that approach."
Carder said his tour of duty gave him the contacts and the insight to make My Straight Buddy work.
"Having actually spent time in the military, I know what really goes on - the casual nudity, drunk horseplay and intense camaraderie of men that spend so much time together," he said. "Watching these videos really lets you experience what it's like to have straight military buddies who are such tight friends they really do hang out naked and chill together. These are real best friends, comfortable and relaxed. It's a unique approach, but one that has really paid off. You wouldn't believe how well it converts. People are looking for something that's different and real."
Carder said My Straight Buddy got its start as a member of the Badpuppy network of sites.
"Badpuppy was really good to me and I hate to leave their network, but they were very understanding of what a great opportunity this was for me and they were extremely supportive, as they have always been," he said. "Working with Dink Flamingo has been a dream of mine for several years, one that I am now lucky enough to see become a reality."
Carder said he plans to start a straight site, called SemperFuck.com, that features marines with women, but he will continue to provide regular updates for My Straight Buddy.
"Straight marines with girls was a very popular feature on My Straight Buddy," he said. "The guys I work with are totally straight after all and many of them are to-die-for hot, but they won't do anything with a guy no matter what the price. I edit the girl out almost completely. You hardly even know she's there, but the marines do and it makes the sex that much more intense and real. I'm very grateful to Dink for giving me the opportunity to finally make the videos I have always wanted to make."
Flamingo said he plans both to promote My Straight Buddy as a stand-alone site and add it to the members' area of Active Duty.
