Comstock Films Raises Funds for ‘No on Prop 8' Campaign

OAKLAND, Calif. - Between midnight Oct. 28 and 3 a.m. ET Oct. 29, Comstock Films will donate 100 percent of the purchase price of every erotic documentary DVD at its website to the campaign to defend same-sex marriage in California.

The funds will boost the coffers of No On Prop 8, a grassroots movement to preserve marriage equality by defeating California's Proposition 8 ballot initiative. Proposition 8, which would revise the California constitution to define "marriage" as "a union between one man and one woman," arose after the state's Supreme Court ruled current laws banning same-sex marriage violated the civil rights of Californians.

Comstock Films is the producer of the award-winning Real People, Real Life, Real Sex series of explicit documentary-style features about real-life lovers. Using a similar tactic, in 2005 the company raised more than $4,000 for Red Cross relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and much of the rest of the U.S. Gulf Coast between Louisiana and Florida.
