FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - CollegeDudes247, a website that offers amateur and twink content, is planning a leap into the DVD market to correspond with its second anniversary.
Twinkscape, the DVD line, will comprise a serialized story about the adventures of three twinks who accidentally receive a video camera from a sexy delivery guy, according to CollegeDudes247 co-owner and director Aaron Sherman.
"The roommates then decide to start a porn website with the camera, hoping to make enough money to buy a game console," he told GAYVN.com. "Each scene in the series follows a few of the guys as they attempt to create scenes for their site."
Twinkscape will incorporate the talents of fan-favorite performers and also introduce some fresh, new faces, Sherman said.
"We wanted to bring in the freshest and most appealing twink talent to Twinkscape, but we also have quite a few faces and names people will recognize and love: Robbie Hart, Kyros Christian, Ajay and Jason Matthews, to name a few," he said. "They are proven talent with fan bases that will follow them to Twinkscape. We also have some amazing new performers who are beginning their performance careers with Twinkscape."
In many ways, the series' dialogue is written and sets are designed from the perspective of an 18-year-old porn newbie, Sherman said.
"There's lots of parody and comedy in the B-roll, but the action scenes themselves are top-notch," he revealed. "Each scene features a twink or twinks filming in the scenes, but is also captured with professional high-def cameras. Depending on who is in the scene, some of the scenes contain substantial [character point of view] or actually have a twink being filmed while filming himself, and the viewer is shown footage from both perspectives.
"For a filming technique, I think this is substantially different from a lot of content out there," Sherman added. "It is very kitschy - almost John Waters kitschy - but as I said, the action is hot as can be. The whole crew is really excited about it."
Currently, the plan is to release Twinkscape episodes weekly on the Web, with DVDs representing "seasons" and bowing at the rate of two discs every three months.
"We are filming and releasing DVDs in seasons, similar to TV-show format, with primary and secondary characters who will sustain continuity between seasons," Sherman told GAYVN.com. "Season one will be released on DVD, or at least an initial limited release, prior to Jan. 1, 2009. We are in post production right now."
The title of the first DVD had not been finalized at press time.
Sherman was quick to point out that the decision to move from the Web, where CollegeDudes247 built a loyal following in two short years, to brick-and-mortar at a time when many other companies are progressing in the opposite direction wasn't made on a whim.
"Almost every week we get requests for DVDs," he told GAYVN.com. "There is still a sizeable number of consumers who prefer to buy DVD content, or both Web and DVD content, and as we launch this new line we want to keep these consumers in mind. Applying the same principles of success for Twinkscape - hot guys, hot sex, treating the performers with the utmost respect, listening to the customers - we want to make sure we are catering to as wide an audience as possible. Even if the pie is shrinking, we think we can grab a pretty decent-sized piece.
"I think applying the lessons we've learned with CollegeDudes247 will be a big help," he added. "At the end of the day, consumers want hot sex and hot guys. You can keep quality very high even on a tight budget; it just takes more attention and dedication.
"That said, we are trying to enter the twink market and the DVD market with a sense of humility. There is always more to learn and there will always be areas for improvement."
Sherman said the studio is in talks with distributors now and hopes to have a marketing home for Twinkscape soon.
