NEW YORK CITY—CockyBoys has announced what it describes as a "once-in-a-lifetime" collaboration with famed director Chi Chi LaRue to create a new CockyBoys' feature. The project is called A Porn Love Story and it's a mockumentary about the "un-making" of a popular boy band.
The idea was inspired by a recent interview that ChiChi gave to BillBoard magazine, upon the release of RuPaul's album "Realness," in which she performed on one of the albums tracks, "LGBT."
"Porn mogul and DJ Chi Chi LaRue can now lay claim to a new achievement in her varied career: appearing on a top 10 album on a Billboard chart," wrote Keith Caulfield for Billboard. "The drag diva is featured on fellow drag star RuPaul's new album Realness, which debuts at No. 6 on the Dance/Electronic Albums chart (dated March 21). LaRue—who is probably best known for directing hundreds of gay-porn films in a nearly 30-year career—is a guest vocalist on the album's anthemic, rocking song "LGBT."
In the article, LaRue commented on how some gay porn stars look like pop stars.
"Well, Levi Karter, Liam Riley … all the CockyBoys guys are, like, Teen Beat, down, honey!" said LaRue (with Caulfiend noting that "CockyBoys is a New York-based gay adult film studio, and Karter and Riley are some of their current stars.") "There could be Tiger Beat: The CockyBoys edition.
Billboard then asked LaRue why CockyBoys hadn't done a boy-band-inspired video," to which she replied, "Right?! OK, that's going to be something I'm working on right now, girl. I'm filming something with them when I go to New York. So I will bring that up. Jake Jaxson [CEO of CockyBoys] and I are kindred spirits. We could definitely do something that would be amazing."
So what better team to explore this cross section of pop-culture? CockyBoys' Jake Jaxson having already blurred the lines of reality and porn with the critically acclaimed hits Project Go-Go Boy and Road Strip and ChiChi having straddled the porn and music mainstream as both a director and DJ.
To pull off the project, they have enlisted an all-star cast of some of the most popular and dynamic performers working today. The cast includes CockyBoys' exclusives Levi Karter, Allen King, Tayte Hanson, Liam Riley, and Kody Stewart as members of the most popular boy band in the world, New Direction, except in this case, they're "One Erection." Joining the boys will be stars Trenton Ducati, Colby Keller, Lucas Grande, Nick Sterling, and Rikk York. Production began on Friday and will be shooting on location in New York City for the next week.
This project will mark a return to form for the legendary LaRue, who until recently stepped out of the public eye to focus on her recovery and create a new direction in her own life. LaRue said of the collaboration and of being back to work, "I couldn't be more thrilled by this collaboration with Jake Jaxson and CockyBoys. In just five years Jake has come out of nowhere and created a name and brand for himself that is unrivaled in his space.
"My creative juices are over flowing and I haven't felt this good in years!" LaRue exclaimed. "I needed time off from being ChiChi and to reconnect with Larry. CockyBoys and I had planned on doing something together before I went off to recovery but I just wasn't ready and now the timing is perfect. I feel strong, in control, and ready to make this amazing collaboration come to life!"
"We want to create something that is fun, irreverent, and sexy," Jaxson added. "Chi Chi and I have been talking about working together for a few years now so finally at this year's Grabby Awards we sat down and decided to stop flirting and just do it."
"We want to have fun and even make fun of ourselves," LaRue explained. "So many people in porn take themselves and their approach to sex so seriously. With this project we want to make people laugh and entertain them while providing some of the hottest filmed sex around today."
Jasxon extolled LaRue's virtures, noting, "Without question, ChiChi is an industry icon and leader, having crafted and created some of the most memorable adult films in all genres of adult entertainment. She has also help mold and create some of the biggest porn super stars in the business (Joey Stefano, Johnny Hazzard to name a few). Much of what I do today is molded by her C1R's approach to cultivating talent—seeing them as something more than 'just holes'—wanting to push the boundaries and create a more 'mainstream' acceptance of adult performers and entertainment. I will never forget when I first moved to Los Angles and seeing a massive billboard on Santa Monica trumpeting her newest feature [Idol in the Sky] featuring Ryan Idol since then I have always been a fan.
"What has always impressed me the most about ChiChi is that so many performers I know love working with her and so many more want to—including all our exclusives," he added. "They are all drawn to an energetic force that shines bright, both highly creative and authentic. And like all of us, she has had good days and bad, and she is not been afraid to share her personal journey, telling it like it is, combining the struggles with a focus on possibility and positivity! I for one am a big fan of her 'It's MONDAY' Facebook/Instgram videos.
Jaxson alos had good words to say about some of his forebears.
"I also want to thank Channel One, and Rob Novinger for both supporting our work and especially this project. It's a rare occurrence when companies come together like this, so for that reason I am especially grateful. So, it's with all that in mind, that I look forward to seeing what we can all create together. Stay tuned for a 'New Direction'."
More info will be forthcoming for A Porn Love Story, which will debut exclusively on CockyBoys' award-winning platform upon its release later this year.
