The Jamie Hendrix-directed gay-themed drama Curious has been picked up for online rental by Netflix, according to an announcement by Clearwater Entertainment, the film's production company.
"Now all our new Gay Homo Erotic feature films will be added to Netflix's database and our new and existing customers can rent them anytime," said Hendrix in the announcement.
The former porn star began directing in the 1990s and in recent years has concentrated on the softcore and nonsex gay genres.
Curious is described by Clearwater as being about a hetero couple, Ryan and Beth, who are planning their wedding. After a series of fights, Ryan wanders the streets eventually ending up in a gay bar. "Is it just a crazy fling or is 'being gay' who Ryan really is?" is the question the film poses.
Hendrix's casting coup is the appearance of Australian TV star (Temptation Island) Tristan Hamilton in the male lead role.
With the success of the Netflix deal, Hendrix, one of the principals of Clearwater Entertainment, stated, "The goal in 2006 will be to expand our sales of all products by 250%, entering such store chains as Blockbuster and Wal-Mart."
Curious is distributed by Ariztical Entertainment.
