CineKink: Chicago Slated for Three-Night Run

CHICAGO - CineKink: Chicago makes its brazen appearance Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 with a three-night run of films and videos that celebrate and explore a wide diversity of sexuality.

A touring version of "the really alternative film festival" hosted annually in New York, the event will be presented by the Leather Archives and Museum in conjunction with CineKink, an organization dedicated to the recognition and encouragement of sex-positive and kink-friendly depictions in film and television. Works presented at CineKink: Chicago will range from documentary to drama, mildly spicy to quite provocative.

First up - on Thursday at 7 p.m. - is Vice and Consent, a documentary visit with prominent, long-standing members of the BDSM community like Midori, Jay Wiseman and Cleo Dubois. Also on Thursday, The Line Between, a short feature from Chicago filmmaker Jonathan Marten, will be screened. Then, at 9 p.m., the drama Going Under will take the screen. It traces the relationship of a married psychotherapist and a professional dominatrix he frequents.

On Friday at 7 p.m., "Power Plays" - short works that probe, prod and play with the dynamics of sexual power and fantasy - will include work by local artist Usama Alshaibi. They will be followed at 9 p.m. by "Passion Plays," a collection of erotic, sometimes explicit, pieces that dance along the supposed boundary between art and pornography, including the banned-in-Australia documentary Damon and Hunter.

On Saturday at 6 p.m., Liberty In Restraint will allow viewers to follow photographer Noel Graydon on a provocative journey into the world of fetish and sadomasochism. The festival wraps everything up at 8 p.m. with a screening of the "Best of CineKink," a program of award-winning shorts deemed the best of the festival's most recent New York appearance.

The events take place at the Leather Archives and Museum - the only U.S. institution dedicated to the compilation, preservation and maintenance of the leather lifestyle and related lifestyles, history, archives and memorabilia for historical, educational and research purposes. Tickets are $10 at the door or $8 in advance for general admission; $8 at the door or $5 in advance for students, seniors and museum members. Discounted festival passes, covering admission to all screenings, are available for $45 at the door or $30 in advance; $35 at the door or $25 in advance for students, seniors and museum members.

CineKink: Chicago is sponsored by Chicago Eagle, Early 2 Bed, International Mr. Leather, Leather Sins, Materville Studios, Rodeo Riders Chicago and Tulip.

The next CineKink NYC will take place Feb. 26 through March 2, 2008.
