Christian College, Student Porn Actor Still at Odds

GROVE CITY, Pa. John Gechter will not be returning anytime soon to the conservative Christian college that suspended him in April after discovering he worked in gay pornography in order to pay his tuition. In addition, if Grove City College decides to readmit him after a one-year “degree of separation” between him and the school, it will be only on the condition that he renounces porn.

“If he were to fulfill the requirements to be readmitted, including any related to the standards of conduct, he could then be eligible to complete his degree,” the school noted in a prepared statement.

Gechter, who lacks only two courses to complete a bachelor's degree in molecular biology, began the appeal process through college channels before deciding to withdraw voluntarily. He will be eligible to reapply for the fall semester in 2010.

A gay adult performer for two years before his part-time employment was discovered, Gechter said he plans to complete his contractual obligation with the gay adult studio for which currently he works. He performs under the name “Vincent DeSalvo” for RandyBlue.com.

When the contract is complete “within the next several months,” Gechter said he will withdraw from performing in porn in hopes of convincing Grove City College to readmit him and grant him a degree.

Gechter, 22, said he took the job in gay porn because it paid better by itself than the four other jobs he worked simultaneously paid together. Because Grove City College does not accept federal financial aid, he was required to fund his annual tuition bill of $18,514 personally.
