LOS ANGELES - Channel 1 Releasing has received two 2007 David Awards, including one for Best U.S. Director (Chi Chi LaRue) and one for Best U.S. Cover (In His Dreams, designed by award-winning art director Todd Alan).
The second annual awards were presented during a star-studded ceremony Oct. 19 in Berlin, during the 11th annual Venus Erotic Expo. The David Awards are sponsored by "GAYeLINE," a European gay adult trade magazine, and have been called "Europe's answer to the GAYVN Awards."
LaRue, who was in Germany to attend Venus and launch his new photo-book and 2008 calendar, "SMUT," received a standing ovation as he claimed his award. It was LaRue's second consecutive win in the Best U.S. Director category.
Not only is LaRue one of the most recognized personalities in the gay adult industry, but he also is one of the few who have directed simultaneously for multiple major studios such as Falcon, All Worlds, Vivid, and Odyssey. He said he is perhaps most proud of his work for his own company, Channel 1 Releasing, for which he has received critical acclaim and numerous awards for titles like "Bolt," "The Back Row," the recently released "Link: The Evolution," and the 2006 GAYVN Best Picture Wrong Side Of The Tracks.
In addition to producing, directing, and performing, LaRue also has been responsible for discovering stars like Joey Stefano, Alex Stone, Johnny Hazzard, and Zak Spears.
