Chad Manning to Leave Adult Industry

SAN FRANCISCO - Gay adult performer Chad Manning has decided to exit the industry.

"As of Friday, April 25, I will officially retire from the world of porn," Manning wrote in an email to GAYVN.com on Tuesday. "This career has challenged my personal life, and at 33 I have decided that my personal life is more important. I want to thank all the fans and my dear Howard [Andrew, owner of Fabscout Entertainment and Manning's agent]."

"This has been a great trip and journey," he added.

Manning did not specify what personal challenges he faced, although he frequently has encouraged young men considering a career in adult entertainment to be very sure they're aware of the ramifications before they dive in. He also has said being half of a porn-star couple was not problematic for him or his boyfriend, Raging Stallion Studios exclusive and 2009 GAYVN "Best Newcomer" nominee Damian Rios.

He did not respond to a request for an interview.

Manning first appeared in the TitanMen/Folsom Street Events co-production Folsom Prison, released in May 2008. Before he left an exclusive contract with TitanMen in December, Manning appeared in five additional titles for the studio: Warehouse, Double Barrel, Slow Heat in a Texas Town, Home Invasion and Copperhead Canyon.

He also has appeared in titles for other studios, including the upcoming Channel 1 Releasing feature, Take.

Manning said his final appearance will be in an as-yet-unnamed Steve Cruz flick for Mustang.

Although Manning no longer will be an industry insider after April 25, he is scheduled to be a presenter at the Grabby Awards, set to occur May 23 in Chicago.
